here’s ein post surgery:
as you can see, he’s not particularly thrilled about the cone,
but at least he’s got a regular heart now!
the doctor says everything went as well as it possibly could have.
that is good news, btw.
i’m so happy i can’t stop screaming.

today is einstein’s birthday!
i can’t believe my little dude is 7 years old.
this is from when i first met him waaay back when:
i couldn’t believe my luck.
ein’s got a lot of quirks
like he’s got a wonky heart
and one of his balls never dropped.
plus he’s a TERRIBLE driver.
but damn he is a real treasure.
i’d bet a buncha money i don’t have
that even the coldestheartedest person
couldn’t help but fall in love with him.
he’s really somethin else.

being your dog-mom makes me the luckiest girl in the world.
& i gotta give a shout out to my dog-angel, chloe margarita joy.
she would’ve unofficiallybutofficially turned 13 today.
i miss her a lot.

one year ago today: happy birthday chloe & einstein!
two years ago today: today is einstein & chloe’s birthday!!!
e & i have been friends for a long time.
like, 20 years!
but never once did i get to be the taller one.
oh except for that one time i was standing on the roof
and she was on the ground
and okay
i know that doesn’t really even count.
i guess it just makes sense that when she finally got a puppy (george!)
he was already waaaay bigger than einstein will ever be
even with the size difference, einstein is the boss dog.

one year ago today: february is dental health month
two years ago today: cocoa lost her shoes in the event of a samwich run
three years ago today: new york believes in soda tax?!
since we lost our chloe girl, einstein has been acting wonky.
so i took him to the vet.
the doctor told me einstein is depressed!
i asked if he needed to go on dog antidepressants,
i don’t think she thought it was funny.
do you know what the heck she prescribed for poor ein’s broken heart?!
she told me that einstein needs a puppy.
i didn’t know a dog could have a dog,
but the idea is really funny to me.
the thing is, having a dog is a big responsibility,
especially if you are a dog!
if i get him a puppy, who is gonna feed it
or take it for a walk & clean up it’s doodie?
if einstein wants a puppy so bad, he needs to prove he can take care of it.
maybe if he gets a job
and starts pulling his weight (~7 pounds) around the house
then i will consider getting him a puppy.
(kinda) one year ago today: one day terry did not ever get online
two years ago today: potatoes + oils + flours = latkes
three years ago today: robrobrob and cocoa’s daycation
this weekend we had to say goodbye to our sweet furbaby chloe.
she was the best dog you could ask for
(even einstein agrees).
sure she was a little bad sometimes
like she would eat my chapstick, lunge at joggers passing by,
or take up the entire bed if you let her.
plus this one time when we were on vacation, she got into my suitcase
and ate a whole bag of dog treats.
but who isn’t a little bad sometimes?
exactly.
chloe was classy as hell,
she crossed her paws like a lady
and she liked to dress up in my clothes.
einstein loved chloe,
they were best friends.
he would balance on his hind legs and lick her face
and when we’d go for a walk
chloe would follow einstein and pee on the same spot he peed.
it always made me laugh.
she was the perfect shape and size for snuggling.
we did a LOT of snuggling together.
she didn’t really like to be picked up,
but she would let me because she knew how much i liked to do that.
i’m so grateful that j brought her into my life
and let me be her mom.
we were a really lucky family to have her.
i miss her a lot.
if you have a pet, give em a little extra love today for chloe.
maybe do a little scratch under the chin
(that was her favorite spot).
i heard somewhere that all dogs go to heaven.
well, they better have an all you can eat buffet up there
because to our chloe girl, that is paradise.

but the good news is, the vet says she can eat whatever she wants.

so she’s been eating the hell out of em!
