a tribute to chloe margarita joy
this weekend we had to say goodbye to our sweet furbaby chloe.
she was the best dog you could ask for
(even einstein agrees).
sure she was a little bad sometimes
like she would eat my chapstick, lunge at joggers passing by,
or take up the entire bed if you let her.
plus this one time when we were on vacation, she got into my suitcase
and ate a whole bag of dog treats.
but who isn’t a little bad sometimes?
exactly.
chloe was classy as hell,
she crossed her paws like a lady
and she liked to dress up in my clothes.
einstein loved chloe,
they were best friends.
he would balance on his hind legs and lick her face
and when we’d go for a walk
chloe would follow einstein and pee on the same spot he peed.
it always made me laugh.
she was the perfect shape and size for snuggling.
we did a LOT of snuggling together.
she didn’t really like to be picked up,
but she would let me because she knew how much i liked to do that.
i’m so grateful that j brought her into my life
and let me be her mom.
we were a really lucky family to have her.
i miss her a lot.
if you have a pet, give em a little extra love today for chloe.
maybe do a little scratch under the chin
(that was her favorite spot).
i heard somewhere that all dogs go to heaven.
well, they better have an all you can eat buffet up there
because to our chloe girl, that is paradise.

today i celebrate two of my favorite people, chloe & einstein.
6 years ago today, einstein was born.
one of his greatest accomplishments is having the biggest, baddest smell attached to such a tiny body. i don’t know how he does it, but it’s really impressive.
we celebrate chloe’s birthday today, too, since we don’t exactly know when chloe was born. but we have decided that she was definitely born at some point and time.
and i’m really glad she was born. she’s a really classy lady and she doesn’t look a day over 8.

Einstein & Chloe are pretty bad dogs, like, 67% of the time. He licks his lil dog-butt in front of guests, she shamelessly snores louder than a grampa. We’re always reminding them that we will not hesitate to trade them to gypsies in exchange for a new set of pots & pans (we need new pans in a bad way, see). But lately (>40%) they have been pretty okay, so I decided to spoil them with some homemade dog treats. I found this bomb-ass recipe at Sweet Pea’s Kitchen. Since the treats are made out of people-friendly ingredients, you can even have one too (if you like the taste of gourmet dog food, like j does)!
